Happy Europe Day on 9 May!
With the campaign ‘Happy Europe Day!’ we and many committed partners want to make Europe Day better known – both in Germany and, for the first time, in France and other European countries. How? By establishing a new ritual and integrating the greeting “Alles Gute zum Europatag!” or «Bonne Journée de l’Europe !» and ‘Happy Europe Day!’ in as many places as possible in people’s everyday lives. The idea has already met with a great response. A special highlight this year is that a whole seven European railway companies are wishing ‘Happy Europe Day!’ in their respective countries: Deutsche Bahn (Germany), SNCF (France), FS (Italy), SNCB (Belgium), CFL (Luxembourg), PKP (Poland), CD (Czech Republic). In addition, the REWE Group in Germany and the Centre Mondial de la Paix in France as well as personalities such as Dr. Joachim Nagel, the President of the Deutsche Bundesbank, François Villeroy de Galhau, the Governor of the Banque de France and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf will be taking part.
You can be there too – no matter where you are. You can make the phrase ‘Happy Europe Day!’ appear in your own individual ways: in emails, in letters, on greeting cards, on your own social media channels or as a spoken greeting. It is important not to change the phrase “Alles Gute zum Europatag!” or «Bonne Journée de l’Europe !» or’Happy Europe Day!’ and to use the hashtags #9mai (all) and #AGzET (Germany) or #BJdE (France) when sharing on social media. Together we will create an action that crosses borders and has a big impact.
We have bundled all the information on our website:
The website is available in German, French and English and will be updated from 9 May with selected actions from this year. You can also find sample sharing material for your social media channels on the site:
With one year to go until the 2024 European elections, the campaign is a great way to raise awareness of Europe Day, highlight European values and increase the overall visibility of Europe.
